Spending years out of the spotlight, Mannie Fresh became a major topic of discussion when it was announced he would be producing on a Cash Money album. Mannie Fresh left Cash Money Records in 2004, right after the release of Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter. Lil Wayne went on to become one of the biggest rappers in the game and Cash Money went on a signing spree, adding Mystikal, who recruited Mannie Fresh to produce his comeback album, Original.
While Birdman was vocal about not wanting Mannie Fresh involved in any Cash Money projects, the former in-house producer expressed interest in reuniting. In the past, Cash Money mended fences with Juvenile and B.G. At the time, there was talk of Turk being recruited and then all joining with Lil Wayne to reunite the Hot Boyz. Mannie Fresh revealed he had interest in being involved if this happened.
Mannie Fresh was rejected by Cash Money Records, but Kanye West reached out to him for production on his album with G.O.O.D. Music, Cruel Summer. The release date is now within a month and new music is steadily flowing from the album. Kanye West and Pusha T have been two of the biggest artists of 2012. Soul Culture TV caught up with Mannie Fresh to discuss his input on Cruel Summer and much more.
