Earlier this year, The-Dream established a partnership with Capitol Records. Just two years prior, The-Dream ended his longtime relationship with Def Jam. There was even a period of time when The-Dream was retired from the industry.

The-Dream came up during the Jay Z era, as he was at the helm of Def Jam when he released his debut album. Eventually, The-Dream’s retirement would coincide with his own Def Jam executive role. There were plenty of parallels, including leaving the label for a new situation.

However, The-Dream’s new situation ended just months after it started. It is something The-Dream told Complex all about. During the interview, The-Dream spoke on how Capitol Records refused to allow him to premiere music on TIDAL, wanting him to only release new music with Spotify.
