Lifetime’s “Surviving R. Kelly” documentary series did a great job last weekend in shedding light on R. Kelly’s actions in regards to having sex with teenage girls, videotaping, and assaulting them over the years. He was also exposed for his relationship with a 14-year-old Aaliyah and supposedly having sex with her on a tour bus. R. Kelly is also currently being investigated in Georgia for these crimes discussed by victims on the show.

Now, R. Kelly’s daughter Buku Abi is speaking out on him on Instagram. While she says that her silence regarding her father was to hide the pain that she’s endured with him, she feels that it’s best to come out about everything now. She said that feeling devastated is an understatement right now. Abi is praying for all of the families affected by her father’s actions.

Abi went on to say that it’s been years since she’s spoken to him and that they have no relationship. She added that the reminders of how toxic and monstrous he’s been is painful. She said that those comments don’t help her or her family in the healing process.

As far as staying silent about R. Kelly for so long, Abi says it’s simply to help with the healing process. In regards to the IG post, she said that putting the words together to address him was difficult as it took three days to say everything that she wanted to say. Check out her complete thoughts on her father R. Kelly and the pain she’s went through over the years below.
