2020 Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is suspending campaign events/appearances for the moment as he underwent a procedure for a blockage in one artery and inserted two stents. This happened after Sanders, 78, experienced chest pain during a campaign event in Las Vegas yesterday, according to his senior adviser, Jeff Weaver.
“During a campaign event yesterday evening, Sen. Sanders experienced some chest discomfort,” Weaver said in a statement. “Following medical evaluation and testing he was found to have a blockage in one artery and two stents were successfully inserted. Sen. Sanders is conversing and in good spirits. He will be resting up over the next few days. We are canceling his events and appearances until further notice, and we will continue to provide appropriate updates.” (Via CBS News)
Weaver added that they will continue to provide updates on Sanders as they become available. Sanders is the leading candidate for the Democratic Party so far. His competition is Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, Joe Biden, and Beto O’Rourke. Sanders ran for president in 2016 as well where he lost the Democratic nomination to Hillary Clinton.
