Last week, Kendrick Lamar released the official video for “Backseat Freestyle,” taken from his coming of age tale, good kid, m.A.A.d. city. Met with a strong critical reaction, many have hailed Kendrick Lamar as the Nas of this generation. Kendrick Lamar, however, is staying out of the hype.
Currently, viewers are enjoying “Backseat Freestyle” and the visuals that go along with it, as it paints the picture. Hip hop has gone a long time without such a strong debut album and has rallied behind Kendrick Lamar. Living out his dreams, Kendrick Lamar is sitting back and taking it all in.
MTV News recently spoke to Kendrick Lamar about his latest single. In previous interviews, Kendrick Lamar discussed his “Poetic Justice” single. Featuring his real-life father and an actual stripper in the “Backseat Freestyle,” Kendrick Lamar spoke on his new visuals.
