It’s good to see the trill lives on with Bun B carrying the torch six years after the passing of Pimp C. Delivering his first album in three years, Bun B released his fourth solo album, Trill OG: The Epilogue on November 11. Over the past few weeks, fans have had the chance to absorb the new album.
Probably more than any veteran in hip hop (ten years or longer in the game), Bun B shares the spotlight with the newer artists. Even though he is from Port Arthur, Bun B is still very much Houston and Kirko Bangz was Houston’s 2012 breakout star. Even though his buzz has dwindled significantly, Kirko Bangz still got a shot from Bun B.
Where Bun B shined through was on his songs with the younger generation artists, which includes “Triller” with Kirko Bangz, “Fire” with Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, and Serani, and on “Cake” with Lil’ Boosie, Pimp C, and Big K.R.I.T. With each track, Bun B showed he could still show the youngsters something. The album was loaded with features.
Other collaborations have Bun B sharing tracks with Raekwon, Redman, and Royce Da 5’9. Being trill goes well beyond Texas and Bun B put together a solid album that goes much deeper than region. However, Bun B also kept it Texas with “The Legendary DJ Screw” posse cut that features Trae Tha Truth, E.S.G., C-Note, Lil’ O, Z-Ro, and Big Hawk. Anybody who is in the taste for good hip hop music should definitely check Bun B out with his latest release, Trill OG: The Epilogue.
