Album Review: J. Cole – “Born Sinner”

Unlike his first album, J. Cole had no issues scheduling a release date for his sophomore album, Born Sinner. Once he finally laid out the plans, J. Cole unleashed one of the biggest hits of the year to the world. The Born Sinner party began when J. Cole released the “Power Trip” single with Miguel.
J. Cole went all out with Born Sinner and he continued his trend of working with the veterans, when he featured TLC on the album. They appeared on the second single off the album, “Crooked Smile.” Each song off the album was a budding classic, especially the track with Kendrick Lamar, “Forbidden Fruit.”
A lot of albums have come out, recently, and they have all honestly been great bodies of work. But, these albums have been creative, concept, albums. In the case of J. Cole, however, he delivered the only real hip hop album so far, an album full of everything, singles, rapping, and good music.
Born Sinner is easily the best album to drop this year and probably will be the best album to drop all year. A complete body of work is something difficult to do and J. Cole did this. While sticking true to himself, he managed to be successful in other lanes and put everything together in order to drop one of the best albums to come out in a long time. The word “classic” is thrown around a little too easily, but this may be among the closest things to it.
