We have been starting to see more artists release conscious records in the wake of the protests in America which address racism and police brutality. Among them are Lil Baby’s “The Bigger Picture,” Meek Mill’s “Otherside of America,” and now H.E.R.’s “I Can’t Breathe.” The title is a statement which was said by Eric Garner in 2014 when he died at the hands of police brutality along with George Floyd in Minneapolis last month. This is definitely a powerful record and one of H.E.R.’s best work.
