Preemo’s “In the Mix” Top Five Songs of the Week (April 7 – April 13, 2013)

Another week in hip hop has gone by and there has been a lot of drama. As far as the hip hop goes, Drake went platinum with “Started from the Bottom” and double platinum with Take Care this week. On the drama front, Reebok officially dropped Rick Ross after he admitted his lyrics were “offensive” to women.

Even though it’s “just music,” a lot of work goes into it, especially for someone who likens themselves a “tastemaker” in the industry. In order to come up with the best possible list for this week’s list, hours of listening to music, no sleep, no breaks, went down. All of this work went on just to deliver the best in mainstream and underground hip hop.

Of course, the work for DJ Clue and Desert Storm Radio with “In the Mix” is well-known, but there is a lot more going on. Coming soon to Hip Hop Vibe, in addition to the “Top Five Songs of the Week” and the weekly radio postings, “Tapes in the Crates” is a new mixtape series coming. But, in the meantime, here is the latest Top Five Songs of the Week.

Listen to “In the Mix’s” Top Five Songs of the Week below:

Fabolous ft. Chris Brown – “Ready”

Fabolous and Chris Brown are going to have the clubs on smash with this one, as Fab gets all the girls with skin tones like Hershey to give them all the love. “Ready?”

Proof and J Dilla – “Keep It On The Low”

Unreleased Dilla and late D12 member Proof?! Yes, please! To commemorate the seventh anniversary of Proof’s passing, Paul Rosenberg released an unheard track produced by the late J. Dilla “Keep It On The Low.”

DJ Felli Fel ft. Ne-Yo, Tyga, and Wiz Khalifa – “Reason To Hate”

“No shame, I could pay ya year’s rent with one chain…straight shots to hater’s on this one.”

DJ Felli Fel keeps his latest beat for himself and along with Tyga, Wiz, and Ne-Yo gives people a reason to hate on this single. Pop that collar, don’t hate, be hated.

Common and Cocaine 80s – “Congratulations”

I love the sound to this tracks as it nods to the golden era with No I.D. spearheading the production and Cocaine 80 extending their helping hand. Common narrates his tale on this brand new track.

Raaddrr Van – “Daughters”

With my very own daughter on the way soon this track knocks on my heart as unsigned artist Raaddrr breaks down his trials and tribulations on this track “Daughters.”
