Special thanks to the homie DJ Charlie Hustle for holding Hip Hop Vibe down with his daily dose of sexy. But, longtime Hip Hop Vibe followers know Thursday is the day where sexy is typically guaranteed. It’s been a good look to have all these beautiful ladies on Hip Hop Vibe and Latoya Calais is the focus this week.
A native of Louisiana, Latoya Calais moved around a lot and she shared classrooms with some major stars. Such names as Mila Kunis and also Brandy and Ray J are some of the people she was schoolmates with. There must be something about that school and success, because Latoya went there too.
Currently living in Houston, Latoya Calasis is emerging as one of the game’s sexiest women. The people who give Latoya Calasis a second look will be forced to give her a third and a fourth. She gave Hip Hop Vibe a good look and a good interview when she spoke to us for the Hottie of the Week feature.
Read the entire interview below:
Can you tell us about life growing up in Louisiana? Life growing up in Louisiana was great, I was born in Alexandria Louisiana, but raised in Lake Charles. I moved around a lot throughout my younger years, we’ve lived in California where I attended Bancroft Performing Arts School and shared a class with Mila Kunis of “That 70’s Show.” That also happens to be the same middle school the Norwood’s Brandy and Ray J attended.
I spent a few years in Saint Petersburg, Florida where I attended 7th-11th grade attending Bay Pointe Middle School and Lakewood High School soaking up the Florida sunshine. Then I moved back to Louisiana where I completed my senior year at Washington Marion High School and I can tell you there is nothing like being around your family.
Louisiana is a great place to live and raise a family, it’s very cultural and it still has that old world flavor. I’m grateful that I’m able to call Louisiana my home! Now I reside in Houston, Texas where I have been for about 10 years now and I must say I love every place I’ve lived and visited but there is nothing like home. As you can see I’m a mixture of different places which adds to my Cajun Creole Flavor.
Explain to us what Cajun Creole Flavor is? Cajun Creole Flavor is the makeup of LaToya Calais, it’s like the best Gumbo or Etouffee you’ve ever had. By that I mean I’m a mixture of sexy/classy, naughty/nice, sultry/sassy, sweet/sour, and aggressive/submissive. You get the picture right! (laughs).
What inspired you to take up modeling? I’ve always wanted to be a model, growing up people would tell me that I had the legs for modeling, but when I got older I didn’t have enough legs because I am only 5’4 (smiles). So for a while, I wouldn’t entertain the mention because I thought I couldn’t do it, because runway was always a dream of mine and the height requirements start at 5’8. I was inspired by Tyra Banks, Iman, and Naomi Campbell, so needless to say I was pleased when urban modeling made a lane for not only the short but the curvaceous as well. Looking at Melyssa Ford, Tahiry, Deelishis, Eva Pigford, and Selita Ebanks to name a few that have found a lane in this industry and paved the way for women aspiring for the success they have already attained.
Have you worked with anyone in the industry? I’ve been photographed by Hasan of Facet Studios, Al Cole of Alcole Studios and Doss Tidwell, and have been featured in music videos for artist such as Kirko Bangz, Daniel Gibson and Yung Serg, all of Houston.
Who are some of the people you want to work with and what would be your dream location? Music is my second love so working with artist is a passion of mine with that said I’d love to work with T.I, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, and Wale to name a few. Derek Blanks and Nigel Barker are noted photographers with two different styles but both amazingly talented. It would be an honor to add that to the list of wonderful photographers I’ve already worked with. I’d like to be apart of the Victoria’s Secret Angels, Rip the Runway and New York Fashion Week. My dream location would be the Dominican Republic not only a place I’ve always wanted to visit but I know the culture and beautiful natural backdrop would make for some great images to add to my portfolio.
What are some things that LaToya considers spicy in the bedroom? Normally, I would say we’d just have to leave that in the bedroom, but I would say I am a Scorpio and I like to be in control. However, I know how to be submissive when its necessary anything more would have to be left up to the imagination.
Would you ever do a nude photo shoot and if so who would you feel comfortable posing for? If I were to ever consider a nude shoot it would be with Doss Tidwell, him and I have established a great professional relationship and I can trust that my images will be shot tastefully and used in the most artistic form.
Name a couple of your immediate modeling goals? Continue climbing to become a household name, that is both immediate and ultimately the goal. I have been fortunate to have a great start so I just pray that I continue growing and making a solid footprint in this industry.
What is the sexiest thing that comes to mind when people mention LaToya Calais? I’ll leave that up to the supporters who mention Latoya Calais, personally as long as I am being mentioned that’s sexy to me.
