Hip hop is more than the music, it’s an artform and a lifestyle that goes much deeper than what some consider “real.” Models have always played an important part in hip hop, because beautiful women have decorated music videos. They also became fixtures on hip hop-related publications.

As time has gone on, each generation has developed bigger and bigger subgenres of hip hop. This leads to the current generation where the internet reigns supreme and each subgenre lives on shared space. An opportunity like this is what is helping Shareen Ashlee establish her career.

A popular rising model who is just beginning to establish herself, Shareen Ashlee talked to Hip Hop Vibe about her career. Featured in the latest Hottie of the Week edition, Shareen Ashlee talked about how she is establishing herself in the game and what is in the works for her. Read the entire interview below:

How did you get your start in modeling? I always wanted to model when I was younger but I knew I would never be tall enough for runway, so about a year ago I decided to follow my dream and try out urban modeling.

Where have you traveled so far? Miami, Richmond, Charlotte, DC. I will be doing more traveling this year.

Who would you say is the upper echelon of all ethnic models? Kyra Chaos, Love her.

What is the sexiest thing a man has ever done for you? Support me. I know it seems blah but that’s probably the greatest and sexiest thing a man has ever done. To support my goals and dreams and be proud of me.

What are your long term goals in modeling and how long do you think it will take to achieve it? My long term goals would have to be to eventually have my own agency to help the females that want to model. Give them guidance and support because this industry can be a tough one. I should be able to achieve it within two years.

Do you have any workout secrets or eating habits that you use to stay in shape? I drink lots of water usually with lemon, I fill up on proteins and fruits and veggies.

When it comes to men who do you prefer athletes or rappers? Hm, I would have to say rappers. (Laughs).

Do you have a business plan outside of modeling? I am a full time college student. I also bartend.

What is your biggest fear being in front of the camera? I don’t really have any fears while being in front of the camera. I actually am overwhelmed with joy while in front of the camera.
