Read the entire interview below:
Though you are into modeling, you also have your own business, how important do you feel it is to have a side hustle? Modeling is a hobby and something I do for fun and only on occasions. I firmly believe a woman should take advantage of all aspects of life regarding her career. I refuse to limit and deprive myself and it’s a must to have a hustle and side hustle. I believe my hustle is my way of life and the way to eat!
A lot of children go through the “writing phase,” what made you want to take it seriously? I began writing at the age of 10 years old and still write to this day. Writing was/is a way to express my thoughts and feelings and also a way to let a lot of things go. I kept a journal that not only captured my life experiences but others in my surrounds.
How long have you had an interest in modeling? Modeling has and will always be a hobby. Modeling is a tough job and many down play it but it takes a lot to do it and do it well. It’s a job, craft and takes a lot of hard work and dedication.
Working in the past as a substitute teacher, how did you manage to balance both interests? Being a substitute teacher allowed me to have flexibility with my schedule. I worked when I chose to which allowed me more free time.
Has your modeling work interfered with your social work? I graduated from Texas Women’s University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. I chose social work because I can work with children, teens, adults and the elderly. I like talking, encouraging and just sharing with individuals. Knowledge is power and sharing is caring. I know how to separate business from pleasure so they won’t collide or interfere with one another.
You took your writing to the next level and you have a book in the works, can you talk more about that? My book!!! My baby, all my hard work, blood, sweat and tears are in my first book titled “The Life Of A Hustla’s Wife.” The Life Of A Hustla’s Wife is a book of poetry but told in a story format. It’s in chronological order and is a true story about life, the hussle, drive and family. Its grimy, real, raw and uncensored. The Life Of A Hustla’s Wife gives detailed information about life, a relationship, family and gaining the strength to trust God all over again! The book is made for both men and women! Release date is April 13, 2013.
When you are not working, what are you doing? Family is extremely important to me so spending time with them.
There are several forms of modeling, which style agrees with you most? I don’t consider myself a model but who I admire and like her work ethics is Melyssa Ford.
What do you get complimented on the most? What I get complimented on the most is my skin. I don’t wear make up about 95% of the time and when and if I do I only wear lashes.
