It looks as if 2 Chainz could be in rare company, if he manages to finish this year in hip hop as Rookie of the Year and MVP. Technically his sophomore campaign, 2 Chainz released his debut album, Based on a T.R.U. Story, in 2012. 2 Chainz released his T.R.U. Religion breakout mixtape in 2011.
Building a reputation as hip hop’s biggest artist, 2 Chainz gained the respect of everyone, including Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, and Kanye West. Each of these artists, sans Rick Ross, appear on his new album. Picking up where his mixtape run left off, 2 Chainz filled his album with hits.
The impact of Based on a T.R.U. Story reached far and wide, with the album continuing to sell four months after its release. Debuting strong, on top of the charts at number one. 2 Chainz now will soon have a plaque for his debut effort, as his debut album, Based on a T.R.U. Story, has gone gold.
