Since it seems as if releasing an album will be easier said than done, 50 Cent has returned to making mixtapes. Last year, in the closing days of 2011, 50 Cent released his The Big 10 mixtape, which was met with rave reviews. Many felt it was one of the best releases of the year.

Upset with Interscope Records, 50 Cent said he would release more mixtapes and promote them the way he did The Big 10. Speaking via Twitter, 50 Cent went on to say he would not support any music Interscope Records releases from him. Weeks later, 50 Cent took that statement back and said he was back to working on his new album.

In 2008, when 50 Cent first revealed his problems with Interscope Records, he announced he had a mixtape in the works with DJ Drama. For unknown reasons, the mixtape was never released. While on Twitter today, 50 Cent spoke on this mixtape, saying his first Gangsta Grillz mixtape, The Lost Tape, referring to the intended 2008 release date, will soon be available.
