People can argue back and forth about who is who, but everybody in the TDE camp is dope. Any of them could’ve easily blown up and put the West Coast back in the mainstream, Kendrick Lamar just happened to do it. This doesn’t take away from the other members of the camp, especially Ab-Soul.
The TDE collective is a close-knit crew, closer than brothers, but they are competitive and they fight like brothers. As recently as this week, Ab-Soul said he would leave the entire Black Hippy movement if people kept calling it “Kendrick Lamar and Black Hippy.” That is the competitive nature of the TDE movement.
Black Lip Pastor was rumored to be the latest Ab-Soul release. This was to be the follow-up to his Control System album from last year. Ab-Soul is done with the project, but he straightened things out with the people and let them know the project is not titled Black Lip Pastor.
