Music and entertainment went through a major change in 2015 and it was spurred by Jay Z. Purchasing TIDAL in January, Jay Z revamped the company with a big idea of artist-owned entertainment. There were a lot of kinks with the company and many competitors.
Despite Jay Z’s former partnership with Apple, the company decided to utilize their ties to Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre to form a competitor. In response to TIDAL, Apple Music was born. They have weekly radio shows with Dr. Dre, Drake, Pharrell, and many more.
Yesterday, Apple Music made some more trademarks and it led to industry speculation. Because of the trademarking, Apple Music is rumored to be launching more stations. If this is true, this means more celebrity artists will be joining Apple Music in the near future.
