Kobe and Gianna Bryant’s memorial service at STAPLES Center is currently taking place in Los Angeles. It’s been a beautiful service so far. Beyoncé opened the show to perform with a choir and included the hit record “Halo” and Kobe’s favorite song, “XO.” Bey put on a show as usual.
Kobe and Gianna died in a helicopter crash on January 26 along with seven others as they were on their way to the Mamba Sports Academy. Gigi was set to play in it, along with her teammates on board. In addition, Kobe was going to coach in the game.
Many NBA stars are also at STAPLES today such as Kobe’s former teammate Shaquille O’Neal and Lakers legend, Magic Johnson. Kobe won five NBA championships with the Lakers with three of them coming with O’Neil. Bryant was also an 18x NBA All-Star, NBA MVP, 2x NBA Finals MVP, 2x Olympic Gold Medalist, and 9x All-NBA Defensive First Team.
This February 24 date was set by Kobe’s wife, Vanessa, in honor of Gigi’s No. 2 jersey, Kobe’s No. 24 Lakers jersey, and No. 20 being the amount of seasons that Kobe was a Laker and in the NBA along with how long she was with him for.
