At one point, a lot was being said about the beef between Jay-Z and Cam’ron. Rumor has it, the two were never fond of each other and Damon Dash was the only reason they tolerated each other at Roc-A-Fella Records. When Damon Dash was taken out of the picture, the relationship went from bad to worse.
Cam’ron experienced a bit of what Jay-Z did when he and Jim Jones split. During their hiatus, Cam’ron said he felt Jay-Z’s pain and that he had no personal grudge against him and would be open to collaborating. Money, much like Jay-Z, would be the deciding factor for Cam’ron.
However, Jay-Z mentioned Cam’ron on Drake’s “Pound Cake” and Cam hit back with his response record. He told Karen Civil that he didn’t think Jay-Z was trying to diss, but he didn’t like how he propped himself and made it look like he made the millions. As someone who knew them all when they were coming up, Cam’ron wanted more honesty.
