Recently, Cardi B tried to get her famous and catchy “Okurr” word trademarked in order to try to secure another bag and make sure she gets her due. U.S. Patent and Trademark officials aren’t feeling her on that word at all as her request was denied.

According to The Blast, okurr is under the category of “widely-used commonplace expressions,” and therefore, did not qualify for a trademark. In addition to this classification, it is “a slogan or term that does not function as a trademark or service mark to indicate the source of applicant’s goods and/or services.”

USPTO officials say that they’ve seen this word used plenty of times online as well. The Kardashians supposedly have ties to the word and that played a factor in this trademark denial. Cardi has definitely popularized this word though as Pepsi even wanted her to say it in a Super Bowl commercial. It’ll definitely be interesting to see if she attempts this trademark again in the near future.
