Cassidy says Jay-Z benefited from Biggie and Tupac dying
Cassidy established himself as a star, the moment he got signed. When he was initially signed, he immediately dropped hits. In fact, Cassidy’s first single, “Hotel,” featured R. Kelly. This was when R was dominating the game. Many people overlook the run that Cassidy had. From 2003 until 2007, he was one of the top ten most popular rappers in the game. Recently, Cassidy spoke on The Art of Dialogue, he spoke on the influence of The Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur, on Jay-Z, DMX, and Ja Rule.
Cassidy debuted at the time when Jay-Z, DMX, and Ja Rule’s reign on the game was ending. In the case of both Jay-Z and DMX, they were retiring. Meanwhile, Ja Rule found himself on the receiving end of an onslaught of disses from 50 Cent. However, years later, fans have determined Jay-Z and DMX’s retirements were heavily influenced by 50. After all, both staged comeback albums in 2006, at which time 50’s buzz cooled off.
Cassidy talked on The Art of Dialogue and ended up discussing The Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac. During the interview, Cassidy explained his stance on B.I.G. and Tupac. He said it’s hard to diminish B.I.G.’s run in the game and said Ready to Die is a classic. Furthermore, he said it’s hard for Jay-Z to get where he is without B.I.G.’s death. Why Cassidy said that is because Jay leaned into Biggie’s style, the same way that both DMX and Ja Rule did with Tupac’s style.
