Beef is old, to hear most people tell the story, and they say it doesn’t get the artists anywhere. But, in the case of Cassidy, it has his name buzzing for the first time in six years, starting last summer. Cassidy and Meek Mill have gone at it on Twitter, Instagram, and on records, which has made for some pure entertainment.
It had been a few years since Cassidy had a record deal, but his recent boost in popularity led to interest. Chinga Chang Records is currently expanding their roster and they were previously interested in Amanda Bynes. They were close to a deal and she would’ve had a $250,000 advance had her issues not overtaken her.
Chinga Chang Records’ CEO, Dan Herman, terminated the potential Amanda Bynes deal. Then, he approached Cassidy directly. Not only did he get Amanda Bynes’ deal, Cassidy is already working on his album, Mr. Hip Hop. Cassidy spoke on the deal and said he and Dan feel the same way, guys like Meek Mill and Drake feminize hip hop.
