Cyclist hits dad, tells him to leash toddler in Michigan
In a disturbing encounter on Kent Trails, a cyclist allegedly assaulted a father and demanded that he put his toddler on a leash. The incident, which has since gone viral, unfolded on Sunday, June 2, as two friends from Kent County and Detroit took a walk with their children.
The father of a 3-year-old boy and 4-month-old daughter recounted that the cyclist cursed at his son and struck him in the face after the boy sat down in the middle of the trail. “He just came up and hit me,” said the father, who wished to remain anonymous due to the video’s viral attention.
After the unprovoked attack, the cyclist told the father to “put him on a leash, like a dog,” referring to the child. The assault left the child crying and the family shaken.
The friend accompanying the family began recording the incident, hoping the camera would deter further aggression. The footage, capturing the shocking moment, was initially posted online but has since been removed due to the overwhelming response.
Wyoming Police have identified the cyclist but are still investigating the incident. “It will be up to the prosecutor to decide on charges,” authorities said.
The video has garnered millions of views, with social media users expressing outrage at the cyclist’s behavior. “We should all practice common courtesy and understand it’s not always easy to keep kids exactly where you want them,” said the friend who filmed the incident.
