When it comes to hip hop, many fans only think of the rapper, but the DJ has been an ongoing presence in the game. Over the years, the role of the DJ has evolved and it was guys like DJ Drama that made DJs “cool” again. Though he is from Philadelphia, DJ Drama made his name in Atlanta.
DJ Drama peaked in 2007 and then went into a hiatus after his run-in with law enforcement over his music. While DJ Drama was away from the game, DJ Khaled became the biggest name in DJ-ing. But, DJ Drama has been reclaiming his position since 2011.
Recently, DJ Drama returned to his native Philadelphia. Hip Hop Since 1987 has been on a roll with their interviews. During their latest interview, native son DJ Drama spoke with them. DJ Drama talked about the movie Juice inspiring him to begin DJ-ing and how the support from T.I., Lil Wayne, and Young Jeezy helped him to gain his position in the game.
