Last summer, DMX was released from prison and made it clear he was aiming for the spot he once held on top of the game. DMX hit the ground running, teaming up with hip hop newcomer, Machine Gun Kelly. The duo united for the single, “I Don’t Dance,” which has a strong online following.

Recently, DMX announced he had a new album on the way. The title was revealed to be Undisputed and the release date was later announced. In the middle of the summer, DMX plans to heat things up with the release of his new album. Undisputed is currently set for a release date of June 26.

While he was in prison when his album released, Ja Rule’s Pain is Love 2 album sold poorly and likely would have if he had been free. A lack of apparent planning and proper promotion doomed the sales of his comeback album. Perhaps watching what happened to his friend, another former multi-platinum rapper, DMX has a warm-up for the fans.

Earlier today, DMX announced he was going to release a free EP for his fans, called The Weigh In, on May 15.
