Nobody is disputing the success Drake has had in the game. The lock he has had on hip hop is almost historic, as Drake dominated the entire 2010s decade, with one year to go. After the opening 2017 months, he took the whole year off.
With Drake out of the picture, DJ Khaled continued his domination, but the artist of the year was Cardi B. She went from doing reality TV to topping Billboard. It all happened during the same calendar year, and she opened 2018, with another pop hit.
Cardi B dropped Invasion of Privacy, her debut album, to much fanfare, yesterday. On the heels of her dropping that, Drake dropped his new single, “Nice For What,” filled with celebrity cameos. The fans on Twitter are accusing Drake of doing dirty work for Nicki Minaj, dropping his single to slow down Cardi’s buzz.
