Charlamagne Tha God said it best, Drake could be the next Jay-Z, but he WANTS to be the next Miguel. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, because Drake is the first rapper who is actually good at both rapping and singing. More than a simple lyricist, Drake is a strong musical talent.
Growing up, much like most people involved in the music industry, Drake is a major fan of Marvin Gaye. Even though he never directly was involved in hip hop, Marvin Gaye is one of the biggest sources of inspiration for the genre. Many big names have either sampled Marvin or cited him for inspiration.
Drake recently sat down with MTV News and he talked about Marvin Gaye. In the next few days, Drake plans to release his third studio album, Nothing Was The Same. Also, in the interview, Drake talked about the his albums and how he has no plans of ever doing a full rap album.
