The coronavirus pandemic has continued to be severe as Donald Trump just declared a national emergency here in the United States. There’s been over 125,000 cases worldwide with over 5,400 deaths. We’ve seen concerts, festivals, and other gatherings become suspended, postponed, or flat out canceled. The SXSW conference and festival in Austin, TX was canceled last week, Coachella was pushed back to October, and we’ve even seen Billie Eilish postpone her North American Tour.

Now, J.Cole’s Dreamville Festival is the latest event that will be pushed back. The Dreamville label took to their Instagram account this afternoon to say that fans’ safety is their main concert. It was originally set to take place on April 4 at Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh, NC. The festival will still happen this year as the new date is August 29.

“Dear Dreamville Family,” the message reads. “We recognize there’s been a lot of questions about the status of Dreamville Festival and in light of recent developments, we are excited to let you know we are moving forward with a new date. While the State of North Carolina and local health officials continue to work to protect the well being of all in the State, we have worked collaboratively to identify the best possible outcome. We are excited to announce that Dreamville Festival will now take place on August 29, 2020 and will remain at Dorothea Dix Park.

The lineup was also supposed to be announced this week but now, Dreamville Festival will have to reconfirm the scheduled artists for August. Tickets already purchased for the festival will also be honored on the new date. Check out the Dreamville Festival’s full statement regarding the postponement below.
