When “Empire” returned for season two, the character of Freda Gatz (Bre-Z) was introduced. She was brought on as the daughter of the gangster, Frank Gathers (Chris Rock). After hearing her rap, Lucious (Terrence Howard) promised Frank he would sign her.
Frank soon threatened Cookie (Taraji P. Henson), prompting Lucious to have him killed. As he had him killed, he promised to make Freda an Empire artist. Ultimately, he resurrected Gutter Life and made Freda the flagship artist of the label.
Early in Freda Gatz’ run, fans called her “Fantasia Loaf,” a play on music stars, Fantasia and Dej Loaf. After months on the show, the Fantasia Loaf tweets died down. However, they made a major comeback in tonight’s episode, as Fantasia Loaf trended on Twitter.
