A daring daylight robbery that has left the Boston business community stunned. In Boston, a check cashing store owner was robbed of a staggering $241,100 in cash. Two men posing as police officers were the culprits.

The Incident and The Victim’s Response

The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. on Friday when the victim, who wishes to remain anonymous, had just withdrawn a large sum of money from Berkshire Bank near Fenway Park. He arrived at his check cashing business on Meridian Street in East Boston. There, he was accosted by two individuals. They claimed they had a warrant for his arrest.

According to the Boston Police Department, the suspects, described as white or white Hispanic men, approached the businessman as he exited his black Audi A6.

“One of the guys banged on my window and said there was a warrant out for my arrest,” the victim recounted. “He pulled me out of the car by my neck and threw me down to the side.”

How The Robbers Got Away

After that, the robbers swiftly commandeered the vehicle and fled the scene. The car was later found abandoned about 100 yards away at the intersection of Border and Lexington streets. It contained only an empty money bag. However, detectives discovered $1,100 still in the victim’s wallet. It was left inside the car.

Sky 5 aerial footage showed the abandoned Audi roped off with police tape. Meanwhile, investigators scoured for evidence. The heist is particularly shocking as it occurred in broad daylight in a busy part of the city. As a result, Boston police have launched an investigation. Thus, urging anyone with information about the suspects, who were wearing dark clothing and caps, to come forward.

The Victim’s Response and Police Action

Despite the loss, the business owner expressed his disbelief and resilience.

“I’ve been in business for 34 years and never had a problem like this,” he told WCVB.

This incident underscores the need for heightened vigilance among business owners, especially those handling large sums of cash. Authorities have yet to determine how the suspects knew about the victim’s substantial bank withdrawal. Thus, raising concerns about potential inside information or surveillance.
