The story of “Empire” is compelling, because of the way it is played by the actors. Just the basis of Cookie Lyon’s (Taraji P. Henson) storyline drew people in. Sacrificing her freedom for Lucious’ (Terrence Howard) dream, Cookie got nothing in return.
Freed from prison at the start of season one, Cookie meets her ex-husband’s girlfriend, Anika (Grace Gealey) and sees his company. The company is valued at over a billion dollars. Meanwhile, Lucious treats his ex-wife as if she is the enemy.
It has continued in season two, with Jamal (Jussie Smollett) turning on Cookie when she was the only one who had his back. Everyone seems to be blocking Cookie from running Empire, the company she started with $400,000 in drug money. “Empire” recently posed the question on Twitter if they think Cookie will run Empire this season and it was a resounding yes.
