A year ago, Big Sean revealed G.O.O.D. Music would be following in the footsteps of both Young Money and Maybach Music. In 2009, Lil Wayne released a compilation album with Young Money. A well-received collective, Rick Ross would eventually top his efforts with his Maybach Music compilation.
The third major star in the rap game, Kanye West, had been out of the public eye for some time. In 2011, Kanye West was promoting Watch the Throne with Jay-Z, which was considered the album of the year. While Kanye West sat on top of the game, it was dominated by Rick Ross and Lil Wayne, as Big Sean and Pusha T made moves.
After much discussion, the G.O.O.D. Music album was finally put together. Kanye West would deliver several songs, among them “Cold.” The song, which was hosted by the popular DJ Khaled, confirms his Kim Kardashian romance. One week after the album was released, it debuts behind P!NK’s Truth About Love album, selling 216,000 copies in its first week.
