During the fall of 2003, Lil Jon took over the hip hop world with his “Crunk music” movement. It was during this period of time when Lil Jon introduced the YoungBloodz, which consist of Sean P and J-Bo. The YoungBloodz had a brief run, but have not had much mainstream attention since 2006.

Sean P has since taken his career solo and he finds himself ready to re-emerge in the game. Right now, things are looking up for all things Atlanta. After a two year hiatus from Playaz Circle, 2 Chainz launched his highly-successful solo career. Now, Sean P is hoping to have similar success.

Hip Hop Vibe had the opportunity to talk to Sean P. During the interview, Sean P talked about the reinvigorated Atlanta hip hop scene and who he will be working with. Sean P also spoke on the possibility of him doing reality television, with “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” being a success.

Read the entire interview below:

For those who have not been paying attention, what have you been up to over the past couple of years? I have been getting my situation together and spending time with my kids. When I had my deal, I was gone a lot, so now I am spending time with my kids.

What is the current status of the YoungBloodz? Everything is cool, right now we are doing solo music, but we will be back with another project after this. Everybody thinks we broke up, but that is not the case, we are good.

Do you still maintain a relationship with Lil Jon? Yeah, he is the homie. I was actually with him at the So So Def anniversary. He is the homie, always.

Can you talk about some of the new music you have coming out? Right now, I have a new single out called “Be Like Me,” featuring Live Sosa. Now, I am working on my new EP 4-13-13, Back to the Streets, this is going to be the project to launch everything.

Who are some of the people you are working with? I don’t really do too many features, you know, I’m like Rocko man. I am working with Zone Beats and Live Sosa, keeping everything homegrown.

What is it like to see Atlanta hip hop taking the game back over the way it has? It is a beautiful thing, it keeps getting stronger and stronger. Honestly, I did not notice the difference, but there was a time when it was not like this.

Who are some of your favorite Atlanta newcomers? Oh man, of course Future, I have known him for a while, it is good to see him out there. Rocko, I mention him because there may be some not familiar with him, but he’s been doing his thing for a while. Also, salute to 2 Chainz.

In the game, overall, who are some of your current favorites? The names I called out man, those are the only ones I focus on. I keep to myself in the studio, for the most part. I don’t need any outside influences.

With Lil’ Scrappy, your former label-mate, finding success through reality television, would you consider doing reality television? No. They got me all fucked up, I don’t even fuck around like that. This shit is too real, my life ain’t for camera (laughs). We do things way too real for that.

What will we see from Sean P as 2013 progresses? You know, I will keep it real slick, bringing real back, and giving the people what they want. My love is for the music and I am coming back for my fans. I will have all my shows at my house (laughs).
