Six years ago, Game rapped “fuck Jesse Jackson, cuz it ain’t about race now.” Famous last words, because almost everything in the news headlines has to do with race. Tensions between races have been brewing since the Trayvon Martin murder and have gotten worse since the subsequent murders of Michael Brown and Eric Garner.
With this, some tension has spilled over into the hip hop world. For the past two years, Iggy Azalea has been a rising star and embroiled in beef with Azealia Banks. Recently, Banks has used the recent racial tensions in her beef against Iggy Azalea, but was only one of many people accusing her to be racist.
All of this made some people actually fall for what happened today, at first. A racist tweet began circulating Instagram supposedly made by Iggy Azalea, that was highly racist. Fans soon realized it was a hoax, but that didn’t stop them from making plenty of comments about it on Instagram.
