In the past, there have been glimpses of North Carolina hip hop, but a more accurate portrayal is through guys like J. Cole. Despite being in the heart of the South, the state of North Carolina is very diverse with four major markets. A hub for the military is another reason people from all over the world are in North Carolina.

J. Cole is among these Army brats and grew up in Fayetteville, North Carolina. His style of music represents what an increasing number of North Carolina rappers sound like. Returning hip hop to lyricism with Cole World: The Sideline Story, J. Cole is following things up with Born Sinner.

Teaming up with Miguel for several anthems, J. Cole got Miguel for his “Power Trip” single, which is one of the first summer anthems. Enough to bring J. Cole back to the forefront of the game, now the album is set to be released. At the end of next month, J. Cole will release Born Sinner, but he released the album cover today.
