Jay Z and Roc Nation surprised everyone this week when they announced a business partnership with the NFL where they’d work on entertainment events and addressing social justice issues. This came with criticism as the league has blackballed Colin Kaepernick out of a job for three years now after he knelt during the national anthem to protest racism and police brutality in America.
Now, Hov is looking to work with the NFL even deeper. According to TMZ Sports, he is close to becoming a part owner of a team soon. Sources say that he has a “significant interest” in one of the teams. He’s expected to make this happen in the “near future.”
Reasons for Jay looking into becoming a part owner are because “he’s a huge fan, already has a sports business and wants to continue to be a change agent for the NFL.” Being a part owner wouldn’t be new to him as he used to have an ownership stake in his hometown Brooklyn Nets until he sold it in 2013. As far as which NFL teams he could be looking at, don’t be surprised to see him continue to look at the home teams between the Giants and Jets.
