Jayda Cheaves Speaks on Gun Charges, in Jamaica, Labels The Situation an “Honest Mistake”

On Tuesday, Jayda Cheaves got into some serious legal issues, regarding gun possession, in Jamaica. She was leaving the country, with a friend named Gregory Wright, and that’s when two firearms were discovered.

Cheaves ended up pleading guilty to two counts of illegal gun possession. Cheaves and Wright also ended up paying $5,000 in fines. Cheaves was in Jamaica at the time, celebrating her 24th birthday.

In the aftermath of this arrest, Cheaves took to her Instagram stories, to address her fans. She labeled this situation as an “honest mistake,” and supposedly learned her lesson.

“Thank you all for your concerns. We are good and out of court! It was an honest mistake and believe me when I say I learned my lesson.”

Cheaves was also in court, and it appears that no jail time is on the table, only the fine. According to the Jamaica Observer, the guns found on Cheaves and Wright at the time were a black Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol with eight 9mm cartridges and a black, grey and pink SCCY 9mm pistol with seven 9mm cartridges.
