Aretha Franklin is without a doubt one of the best singers to ever do it. She sadly passed away back in August of 2018 but the world still recognizes her talent and legacy. 2020 will be even bigger in honoring her memory as a biopic about her is set to be released in theaters this summer.

According to TMZ, the film will be titled “Respect” as Jennifer Hudson will be playing the role of Franklin. Forest Whitaker will also star in the movie as Franklin’s father, C.L Franklin. Respect is also the title of Franklin’s most popular single of all-time. The two were seen filming Respect today in New York City in in Manhattan’s Washington Square Park.

Before her passing, Franklin reportedly chose Hudson to play the role of her in this film. Hudson is one of the most talented R&B/soul artists out so it’s fitting that she pays homage to a legend like Franklin in Respect.
