Quite a lot is said about Rihanna, and the FENTY Beauty success, and, of course, Jay-Z’s business moves. In 2019, he became hip hop’s first billionaire. But, it’s underreported how Kanye West became hip hop’s second billionaire.
Kanye West went on an epic rant, in 2013, during his interview with Sway. This interview saw him venting about his business woes, in the clothing industry. Two years later, he said he wanted to create a trillion dollar company.
Nearly eight years after his infamous rant on Sway, Kanye West is seeing his visions come to life. Through the controversy, which included a failed presidential run, and a divorce from Kim Kardashian, he has become the wealthiest black person in US history, with his net worth rising to $6.6 billion. Much of this is due to his Yeezy brand, which is partnered with Adidas and Gap, Inc., and worth between $3.2 and $4.7 billion.
