A lot of people didn’t really know who Kawhi Leonard was until the 2014 NBA Finals. He surprised a lot of people when he won Finals MVP, as most thought Tim Duncan or Tony Parker would win. But, when Kawhi won, he stepped up as a leader of the Spurs.
With Duncan gone and Parker on his way out, currently injured and out for the playoffs, this is all on Kawhi Leonard. This season, Leonard led the Spurs to a 61-21 record. In the playoffs, the Spurs had a bit of struggle against the Grizzlies and dropped Game 1 to Houston in a rout.
Since then, the Spurs are undefeated and, tonight, won handily in Houston to take a 2-1 series lead. Kawhi Leonard would speak with the media in a locker room post-game interview, as he was leaving. He discussed the Spurs’ strong play, his individual efforts, the 2-1 series lead, and closing the Rockets out.
