Though some years have passed since then, there was once a time when Jay-Z was rather new and had to prove himself. By 1998, Jay-Z had everything set to take the rap game over. With the streets behind him, Jay-Z needed a mainstream hit and he got this in the form of his unorthodox “Hard Knock Life” single.
“Hard Knock Life” was the title track of Jay-Z’s Vol. 2… Hard Knock Life. The song became a breakout hit and it took Jay-Z to new heights. In the fifteen years since this song came out, there have been countless stories about the single. But, there are still many more untold.
Sway Calloway does a little bit of everything when it comes to hip hop media. Every morning, he can be found on Shade 45 doing “Sway in the Morning.” Recently, Kid Capri came in and he talked about “Hard Knock Life.” While he did not produce the song, he admitted he was the person responsible for Jay-Z getting the track.
