Lil Wayne has definitely been following some of the newest generation of rappers. He recently labeled Rich The Kid as a skateboarding rapper GOAT. Now, he’s giving props to Pooh Shiesty and Polo G. This was during a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times.
“Music lacks some creativity,” Wayne claimed. “But I like the real calm, cool flow of Pooh Shiesty. It gives me an old Fabolous vibe. LPB Poody, I did the remix for a song called ‘Batman.’ One of the lines whacked me in the face and I said, ‘OK, you got bars, you’ll probably be around for a minute.’ And Polo G, I think he’s real genuine.”
Of course, Shiesty has been one of the biggest breakout rappers of 2021, creating hits such as “Back In Blood” feat. Lil Durk. That reached 2x platinum status in the US, and also had a number two project in the US, with his debut “Shiesty Season” mixtape.
Shiesty’s buzz started to die down, as he’s been incarcerated since Memorial Day weekend, in Miami. There, he accidentally shot a security guard, while targeting someone else, after $40,000 was missing from his pocket. He is also involved in another Miami shooting case from October 2020, where two men were shot, when the Memphis rapper was trying to buy marijuana and a pair of Air Jordan sneakers.
