Through his career, Lil Wayne has had a love/hate relationship with his fellow Carter, Jay-Z. In 2005, Jay-Z was interested in signing Wayne, sparking the Cash Money drama. Then, in 2006, Lil Wayne began challenging Jay over the “best rapper alive” title.
Lil Wayne, in the end, had a real friend in Jay-Z and Swizz Beatz. When he was exiled from the game, Lil Wayne said he counted on Jay-Z and Swizz for support. With music, Wayne said Swizz held him down, proven with “Uproar,” and with business, Jay held him down, helping him with his taxes.
