Last year, Mac Miller completed his rise from YouTube sensation to rap star. With nothing but his own camera crew and his unique mix of old school hip hop and party music, Mac Miller gained stardom. Given the high volume of viewers all of his material received, several major record labels offered to sign Mac Miller.
Despite the offers from major labels, Mac Miller refused to give in. Mac Miller had signed with his hometown label, Rostrum Records, and began working on his debut album. Wiz Khalifa, his label-mate at Rostrum, signed with Atlantic Records, but Mac Miller decided to remain independent for the sake of his album release. In the end, Mac Miller set records for his high album sales.
From the way it seemed, everyone was impressed with Mac Miller’s unique style. Mac Miller came off as a student of the game with a strong value of history. However, Lord Finesse is not impressed with the Pittsburgh sensation. Lord Finesse has filed a $10 million lawsuit because Mac Miller remade his 1995 single, “Hip 2 Da Game.”
The song was only used on mixtapes, but still led to the position Mac Miller currentl holds. Lord Finesse is suing Mac Miller for copyright infringement, unfair competition, unjust enrichment, interference, deceptive trade practices, and a number of related state law claims.
