Martin cast reunited to present an award at the Emmys
The past decade has seen nostalgia for the “Martin” sitcom. This show made Martin Lawrence into a household name. In addition, it established Tisha Campbell and Tichina Arnold into network television royalty. However, in 2016, the “Martin” family got a little smaller with the passing of Thomas Mikal Ford. When the 2022 reunion show aired, he was honored. At the Emmys, another “Martin” tribute was done, with the living cast present.
“Martin” originally aired from 1992 until 1997. During this five year run, the show earned a cult fan base, and pushed creative boundaries. With his first television show, Martin Lawrence mixed a traditional sitcom with a sketch show. In addition, he borrowed elements of classics, such as “The Jeffersons” and also “Sanford & Son.” As a result, he created a classic series within itself. Many themes from the show are a part of pop culture, to this day.
Martin Lawrence, Tisha Campbell, Tichina Arnold, and Carl Anthony Payne reunited for the Emmys. It was fitting, seeing how the program aired on FOX. In 1992, “Martin” premiered on a then-new FOX television network. This show was among the ones that put the network on the map. Decades later, the network is the home of the Emmys. As a result, they honored “Martin,” having the cast come to present an award.
