“Martin” is regarded as one of the best sitcoms in US history as this series also helped propel Martin Lawrence into a star. Notable co-stars also included Tisha Campbell, Tichina Arnold, Carl Anthony Payne II, and the late Thomas Mikal Ford. Martin initially aired on FOX from 1992-1997. The show even featured appearances by hip-hop legends such as The Notorious B.I.G. and Outkast.
Now, Lawrence is collaborating with the NBA’s Detroit Pistons in order to pay homage to the show, the team, as well as Detroit overall, according to TMZ. The city was the setting of the show for all five seasons. Some of the items being sold by both parties are jerseys, hats, shorts, sweatshirts, and T-shirts.
These items will officially be available to the public on May 14 on Pistons313Shop.com. Lawrence has since spoken to TMZ and emphasized how the city of Detroit has always shown him love and made him feel at home.
“Detroit has always shown me so much love and always shows up for me. From stand-up tours to fans on the street Detroit has felt like home. It’s an honor to be part of something that means so much to me to this many years later.”
The Pistons also revealed a huge collaboration back in December as they announced that Big Sean would be their Creative Director of Innovation. This was revealed shortly before their 2020-21 season started. They added that Sean would put in “creative strategy towards multiple team initiatives, including team apparel and in-game experience.” The Pistons currently stand at 20-50 and last in the Eastern Conference.
