Last month, Rick Ross was shot at while driving in Miami. Being shot at, obviously, caused Ross’ car to spin out of control. Many felt this was a wake up call for all rappers having issues with other rappers. Rick Ross has been facing threats from the Gangsters Disciples for close to one year.
More focus has been on Rick Ross since he revamped his Maybach Music roster. Two years ago, the Miami rapper began expanding the roster of his label. Maybach Music signed Wale and Meek Mill on the heels of each other. Stalley and DJ Scream also joined the label and the older members began receiving more media attention.
Meek Mill recently talked to MTV News, while in Houston for the 2013 NBA All-Star Game and he mentioned Rick Ross’ shooting. Growing up on the streets of Philadelphia, Meek Mill said the shooting is “nothing new.” In the type of environment Meek Mill grew up in, he almost expects his friends to be shot at.
