Michael Jordan launches third health clinic in Wilmington NC
Michael Jordan, in collaboration with Novant Health, has inaugurated a new family medical clinic in Wilmington, NC. As a result, marking the third such facility aimed at enhancing healthcare accessibility. The Novant Health Michael Jordan Family Medical Clinic is located at 1423 Greenfield St. It is part of a broader initiative to provide comprehensive healthcare services, especially to underinsured and uninsured populations.
During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Michael Jordan had his mother, Deloris Jordan, in attendance. The basketball legend emphasized the impact of these clinics on community health. Jordan’s commitment to healthcare was highlighted by his previous donations that led to the establishment of similar clinics in Charlotte. They have been operational and successful in delivering primary care and behavioral health services.
The Wilmington clinic is sprawling over 7,800 square feet and equipped with 12 patient rooms. Thus, it aims to replicate the success of the Charlotte clinics. It will offer services Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a dedicated team that includes a community health worker to help patients navigate additional resources.
This expansion comes after a $10 million donation by Jordan, which also supports the development of another clinic in Wilmington. Novant Health officials underscored the clinics’ significant role in improving health outcomes by providing localized and accessible care.
The clinic not only serves as a healthcare facility but also as a community beacon, adorned with murals that celebrate Wilmington’s history and culture. This new addition to Jordan’s philanthropic efforts is set to make a considerable difference in the lives of many, providing not just healthcare but a new hope for the community.
