The “love” element of VH1’s “Love & Hip Hop” is mostly comprised of video vixens, also known as urban models. In 2009, Tahiry Jose rose to fame doing music videos with 50 Cent and many other major stars. Meanwhile, Erica Mena had her first breakout role in Chris Brown’s “Yo! (Excuse Me Miss).”
With his Apple Bottom brand, Nelly has helped many video vixens, himself. A few years ago, the music videos, namely his “Tip Drill” video caused a major backlash and put the video vixens in question. This led to BET doing away with BET Uncut and probably their shift into general entertainment.
Urban models have made a comeback through the internet and the websites, including Hip Hop Vibe, who post them. Though Nelly has gone through many changes over the years, he remains a supporter of urban modeling. Nelly talked about this during his recent interview with Vlad TV.
