Whether people may like it or not, Nicki Minaj is the most-influential artist of the 2010s. When she was first starting, Nicki Minaj gained an enemy in Lil’ Kim, over her appropriation of her style. Initially, Nicki played it off, and kept giving Lil’ Kim props, but that didn’t last long.
But, this goes back to what Jay-Z said on Kanye West’s “So Appalled,” “die and be a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become a villain.” Seven years later, Nicki Minaj is the veteran. She is seeing her style appropriated by a newcomer.
Dream Doll has been bubbling under, for a couple of years, but has claimed the spotlight, on “Love & Hip Hop.” Earlier this week, Nicki Minaj spoke on people stealing her look and then came back, last night, with another subliminal shot. Fans have confirmed she is talking about Dream Doll.
