Ultimately, every new rapper from New York City is compared to Jay-Z when they are still fresh in the game. All of this comes from the level of success Jay-Z had over the years. However, there are many New York rappers who resent the fact they are compared to Jay-Z, including Papoose.
When Papoose was set to debut, back in 2006, he immediately received comparisons to Jay-Z. A lot of this was due to the weak New York hip hop scene and Papoose set to debut a decade after Reasonable Doubt came out. Papoose faced several delays with his album until he finally released his album this week.
Papoose is making his media rounds through the city in promotion of his long-awaited debut album, The Nacierma Dream. Of course, Papoose stopped by Hot 97 and he talked to DJ Cipha Sounds, Peter Rosenberg, Ebro, and K. Foxx. During the interview, Jay-Z was mentioned and Papoose said he’s “alright.”
